The project methodology and structure
The overall methodology selected by the “EX~TREMIS” project is shown diagrammatically and can be illustrated as follows:
“EX~TREMIS” covers the following pollutants: carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxide (NOx), sulphur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), volatile organic compounds (VOC), methane CH4, non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOC) and particulate matter (PM). It consists of two separate database domains:
- historical database for the time-series 1980-2005, which is mainly based on observed values collected from various official sources;
- projections database, which provides baseline estimates for future developments up to 2030.
Datasets are released in MS Excel Pivot tables together with metadata notes and methodological manuals.
